For most console setups, the real choice is not about chasing the biggest number on a box. It is about knowing whether a 60Hz or 120Hz TV suits the games you play, your console, your room and your budget. What gaming TV refresh rate actually means
Refresh rate is measured in hertz, or Hz. A 60Hz television refreshes its image up to 60 times each second. A 120Hz television can refresh it up to 120 times per second. When a game is running at a matching frame rate, a higher refresh rate can make movement appear cleaner and more fluid.
That does not mean every game instantly runs at 120 frames per second just because your TV supports 120Hz. The console, the game and the selected graphics mode all have to support it too. Not every HDMI 2.1-labelled product handles every advanced feature in the same way, so read the supported resolutions and refresh rates rather than relying on the port label alone. Use the HDMI cable supplied with your current-gen console, or a certified high-speed cable for a PC setup that needs it.
Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
